Brevard Family Partnership, Brevard County’s lead child welfare agency has named Geo A. Ropert, APR its new director of communications.  Ropert has been working for the agency since 2008 as a communication consultant; initially as an independent contractor and later as a member of the Brevard Family Partnership staff.

In this role, Ropert will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing and public relations strategies for Brevard Family Partnership and its recent spin-off subsidiary, Brevard C.A.R.E.S., as well as the national replication of a Wraparound child abuse prevention program based on the C.A.R.E.S. model.  He also assumes responsibility for community and government affairs and will participate in local and statewide initiatives that benefit the vulnerable children and families of Brevard County.

“We’re glad that Geo chose to join our agency and to accept this new role moving forward,” said Brevard Family Partnership’s CEO, Dr. Patricia Nellius-Guthrie.  “In this capacity we look forward to utilizing his skills and talents, as well as his knowledge of our community and its people to help us communicate our mission and reduce the incidences of child abuse in Brevard.”

In 2009, as president of Ropert Communications Group, he helped develop and launch the new brand identity of the agency, transitioning it from Community Based Care of Brevard to Brevard Family Partnership.  He has broadened the agency’s recognition and reach into the community, utilizing an approach that includes traditional broadcast and print, as well as electronic and social media platforms, and one-on-one relationship building.

Ropert has an extensive background and over 25 years experience in sales, marketing and public relations.  A native of Michigan, he moved to Brevard County in 1982 and throughout his career on the Space Coast has been a business owner, writer, radio talk show host, frequent guest and keynote speaker, and master of ceremonies for several, high-profile, community events.  He is Accredited in Public Relations, a designation awarded to a minority of PR professionals in the U.S. who have extensive experience in their field and have proven their proficiency, through rigorous testing in knowledge, skills and abilities.  Ropert currently is president of the Space Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association, a member of the board of directors of the Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, and an advisory board member for the Brevard division of Eckerd Youth Alternatives.
