Helping Families Before a Crisis HappensBC_LOGO-TAGstacked-RGB

Brevard C.A.R.E.S. is Brevard Family Partnership’s innovative, voluntary child abuse prevention program tailored to protect children, strengthen families and change lives.

In December, 2009, Brevard C.A.R.E.S. became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brevard Family Partnership, with a mission to continue to reduce the number of children entering the foster care system through abuse prevention.  Its offices now are located at 4085 S. US 1 in Rockledge, FL.

Family-Centered, Strength-Based, Community-Driven
Brevard C.A.R.E.S. offers a full-array of support services and wraparound Family Team Conferencing to families experiencing stressors that often lead to abuse, abandonment and neglect. The success of this program is due to the proactive participation of the families in need. These families openly engage in this strength-based program, thus building upon the successes and skills within their family unit.

Since inception, Brevard C.A.R.E.S. has provided support to over 8,000 children and more than 2,700 families in Brevard County. Of these families, approximately 20% self-referred, in that they sought assistance prior to becoming a crisis. And, less than 10% have been referred more than once.

Peer Reviewed Research
The C.A.R.E.S. program was published in Families in Society at the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities. The study, titled “Reducing Risk: Families in Wraparound Intervention“, found that the program reduces the occurrence of verifiable child maltreatment by applying core principles of wraparound with Family Team Conferencing to voluntarily enrolled families at risk for child maltreatment. The program has also been recognized as an evidence-based promising practice by the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC).  Learn more about the C.A.R.E.S. model online here.

Family Team Conferencing and Wraparound
A key component of our Brevard C.A.R.E.S. program is the concept of Family Team Conferencing, providing families with natural supports that help them to develop and implement plans to ensure their stability and the health and welfare of their children.
