Phebe Powell, Executive Director of Brevard C.A.R.E.S.; Commissioner Trudie Infantini; Carrie Thomas of the Florida Adoption Center, Florida Crisis Pregnancy Resource Center and Vice Chair of CAPTF; and Tracy Little, Wraparound Fidelity Coordinator at Brevard Family Partnership accept the proclamation from the Board of County Commissioners naming April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Brevard County.

The Brevard County Board of County Commissioners issued a proclamation to The Child Abuse Prevention Task Force (CAPTF) declaring April 2016 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Brevard County.

To promote awareness, CAPTF will host several events and activities to spread a community-wide message that everyone can help prevent child abuse and neglect.
CAPTF of Brevard County has been working to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect in our community since 1996 and was developed to facilitate strategies within the community to prevent child abuse and neglect by impacting parents and their parenting practices. CAPTF works collaboratively with its member organizations to coordinate, cooperate, and promote prevention of child abuse and neglect through community awareness and education.
Families in crisis or experiencing stressors that could lead to child abuse or neglect are encouraged to call Brevard C.A.R.E.S. at 321-752-3226. Anyone who suspects abuse or neglect of a child may report their suspicions by calling 1-800-96-ABUSE (800-962-2873).
